The Lead is leaving X for good
We can no longer justify continuing to post on a platform owned by someone intent on stoking chaos, hatred and violence.
Last year, when fellow progressives flocked from this platform in droves in the wake of Elon Musk’s takeover, we decided to stay put. We wanted to provide a tonic to the far-right propaganda and conservative bias. Today, we’ve changed our mind.
Following his remarks at the far-right “Unite The Kingdom” last Saturday – in which he told a crowd of approximately 110,000 people that “violence is going to come to you, you will have no choice. You’re in a fundamental situation here. Whether you choose violence or not, violence is coming to you. You either fight back or you die,” – we launched a petition to ban Elon Musk from the UK.
We can no longer justify posting on a platform owned by Elon Musk. His vile rhetoric is only the tip of the iceberg of hateful content allowed to proliferate here. We refuse to help line the pockets of an extremist billionaire-turned-influencer, intent on stoking chaos, hatred and violence.
Make no mistake: this man is no ally of Britain.
For those who want to keep up with The Lead on social media, we’ll still be active on Bluesky, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
