The government wants unpaid carers to work more. Jacqui Hylton, a former midwife who now cares for her mum full-time, explains why the system makes that nearly impossible.
Hard to know what to say - clearly caring for your mum is very important - we expect more & better care now ! A daughter’s care is probably close to perfect. How we equate that to how we pay for this personalised care system is going to tax us all ! No pun intended ! Care is the elephant in the room - sadly defence is the propaganda weapon to steal our tax payers £s - together with many very large Capitolist Businesses that see the tax take as their own private piggy bank ! How to change this with the newspaper propaganda & control the rich & powerful have ! I think it is a very difficult dilemma to decide to look after a family member which includes relinquishing one’s job. Often there is no other person to fulfil the role and none of us want our family members to go into a care system that, if you do not have funds to pay for it, it is a bit of a lottery!
If we were more creative maybe we could come up with a more helpful solution - I do not have one sadly
